💖💖💖 Worlds Best Christmas Present ðŸ’–💖💖

I received many presents today even though every year we all say just one present each!

I got loads of presents that I absolutely love but one stood out amongst all the rest.

I opened it and it made me start bawling crying both happy and sad tears.

It was a Welsh white gold locket and inside were 2 pictures.

The First picture was of my old dog Tyler who had been with me 10 years but who I had to have put to sleep through vet malpractice on 06/02/2011 and it broke my heart.

The Second picture was of my little Whippet baby Magic who I got almost a year after Tyler past and is now just past 3 years old with his birthday being 09/10/11 – should have known it was an omen 😉

This truly was the best present ever as I usually fly with an urn locket of Tyler’s ashes (I’m a bad flyer and this is one of my coping mechanisms) but now I can have both my boys with me.

Unfortunately I can’t wear it in the house with the 5 dogs or its bound to get ripped off my neck but if I could I would never take it off 💖💖💖

I Am A Christmas Grinch – Merry Bloody Christmas!

image

I am a Christmas Grinch.

I never used to be this way, I used to absolutely love Christmas.

My problem these days more than likely stems from the TV and shops which start celebrating Christmas in mid November – it’s only one day for gods sake!

TV is the worst. A month and a half of Christmas Specials telling me what a magical time it is and I should be happy as miracles will happen and I’ll get lots of nice things off Santa – problem being I’m not 6 years old …

I find it wearing to the point I hear Christmas songs I feel like kissing the wall!

Christmas is one day.

In my opinion it’s not about TV, sales or at my age the anticipation of Santa – it’s about family.

I do enjoy Christmas Day itself.

I enjoy giving presents I’ve carefully picked out rather than receiving them.

I enjoy sitting down to Christmas dinner with the family.

But that is it!

I never watch the Queens Speech – who gives a flying fig?

I never watch TV as its full of 20 year old Christmas re-runs.

Christmas to me is one day and it’s about family and that is it.

If this makes me Grinchy around Christmas then Grinchy I am, as I think as a mainly non religious society we over kill Christmas.

Christmas means something different to you if you are religious, and your practices and rituals actually mean something to you, it’s not about pandering, it’s about beliefs.

We have lost sight of what Christmas is about, it’s one special day when the family comes together and exchange gifts as a show of love and a magical Christmas dinner cooked by mum (with my mum’s being the best in the world by the way!)

This year I will be Grinchy until Christmas Day and then Grinchy thereafter until all the Christmas crap stops – it’s over, gone, stop going on about it for the love of God (if I believed in him!).

Christmas Day I will be happy as I always am on Christmas Day but please people, unless you have small children to rile up, let’s just leave it to that one magical day and let that be the end of it.
